An incredible XL column hand carved in Portuguese limestone (pedra de ançã) from the Coimbra region of central Portugal. The column most likely originates from the cloister of a monastery. Beautifully and heavily patinated with many age old repairs. An incredibly rare & decorative sculptural architectural element. _The column is currently supported by a simple steel base for display and photography. For long-term or permanent installation, professional mounting would be recommended to ensure structural stability._
